For a city the size of Manchester the amount of decent indie clubs on a weekend is a bit pathetic. Sure you have Up The Racket (at Retro Bar on occasionally Fridays) and Saturday at Tiger Lounge used to be OK, if you can stomach the terrible sound. Maybe it's the fact that Manchester is all clubbed out by the weekend, a tribute to consistently excellent nights like Revolver and Now Wave. Club Pony has been tearing Sheffield a new one for a couple of years. Founded by Mike Forrest (aka Run Hide Survive), the aim has been to breathe fresh life in Sheffield's clubbing scene. Yet the night has become an institution, with big name guests like Boy 8-Bit, Duke Dumont and Yuksek helping to build Club Pony into a national brand. Which is also a result of Run Hide Survive on-going remixes and production work.

Juicy has been running on a monthly basis at Sub Space for a short-while, but Wildstyle is expanding the night for a one-off special at Deaf Institute on 12th Feb. Sapnarella began DJing at the popular Shoplifters night, and is now a celebrated DJ in her own right. She's a full-time member of Murkage Cartel, and was hand-picked by BBC Introducing for a set at Glastonbury. There's also been slots at Manchester’s electronic Eurocultured festival and London’s annual Camden Crawl plus supports with Calvin Harris, Kissy Sell Out, Alex Metric, Example, DJ Zinc, AC Slater, Drop The Lime and Friendly Fires amongst others.
